The size of a horse

Now Heidi is the temperment I like in a horse, I think I could enjoy her but her 13.2 hands makes me feel a little LARGE

Sort of like this guy...

But I certainly don't want to be on such a huge horse that I feel so tiny on a big horse.....

and be over horsepowered like this guy.

It just makes me want to sit down and rest, all this thinking!

I would feel the same. To bad she is to small. She would be an awesome kids horse/pony!

I know right! If she'd been more my size I think the deal would have been done!

I know my nearly perfect match is out there...perhaps Heidi was the hope I needed!

wow this is really hard cuz she's perfect other than her size and i agree with you, i'd feel huge on her too. not that she's not strong enough, it is just an aesthetic thing.

i'm going thru this search in germany as you know and i'm too picky so i'm finding NOTHING. ugh. 1.5 years looking. my little ad in the local tack store is so sad, "seeking arabian." it's a rare breed here, and sooooo expensive. there are lots of hafingers, they're cheap too, but i want an arabian, or a half arab.

She's adorable...too bad she isn't a little taller. You're getting closer! You'll find 'the one'- it took me over a year of looking the first time!

In the pic it looks like she's just right for your leg but, you have a tall torso! The right one is out there. Glad Heidi gave you hope in personality :)

There were some Icelandics at my old barn that were about that height, I always felt cruel riding them because they were so small. Even though they were more than capable to carrying me around! My last horse was 16hh and my riding instructor told me he was the pefect size for me. But there is a little 14.3 hh mare I keep bringing up online. She would be so small, but i really want her haha!
You will find your perfect horse even if it takes longer than you want!

To Camryn, yes I have a very long torso! LOL. My husband always jokes that if I had legs proportional to my torso I'd be 6 foot tall.

It's hard walking around with my short little legs...hehehehe.

Heidi is now my horse and I am 5ft7. I don't believe that it is ridiculous for a taller person to ride a small horse...
It is her heart that is most important and she is now jumping almost 2ft6 with me on her! and free jumps way over 3ft. People here have to understand that it is not the height that counts it's the rider's determinationand trust with the horse.

Anonymous: I don't think it's ridiculous for a tall person to ride a shorter horse. Icelandic horses come to mind....they are short and slim and I've seen 6 ft tall men ride them. I just felt self conscious. I, at a chubby 5'4", am probably not as svelte as you are at 5'7" and you probably don't have the really long/large torso I have. Did you see that picture of me on her? I just felt awkward She was a wonderful mare that I think about a lot still. I'm glad that it seems she found a great home and it sounds like we both found the horse that is perfect for us. Happy trails!

I did see you on her, and you looked fine! Although, not be be mean, but I am happy you did not purchase her as she means the world to me :) I hope you found the perfect horse for yourself!

Well thank you for saying I looked fine. That's the issue with being self conscious it's all that person. I agree though (and you aren't being mean!) I think fate meant for me to find my mare and you to find Heidi. I seriously was giggling the whole time I rode Heidi she was so cute and fun! Glad she has someone that gives her the love she deserves!
